The publisher later added a note to the book, claiming that they did not know about the plagiarism.

A review of this book: http://gdz.sub.uni-goettingen.de/no_cache/en/dms/load/img/?IDDOC=199967 "I found the book largely incomprehensible."

Gottinger, H.W., 1993. Estimating demand for SDI-related spin-off technologies. Research Policy 22, 73-80. Bass, F.M., 1980. The relationship between diffusion rates, experience curves, and demand elasticities for consumer durable technological innovations. Gottinger, H.W., 1996. Competitive bidding for research. Kyklos 49, 439-447. Wyatt, G., 1992. Bidding for research initiatives. Economics of Innovation and New Technology 2, 157-163. The plagiarism was established by the Editors of Kyklos, who retracted the paper in 1999. They also notified the institutions listed by Gottinger as his affiliations, but received no response. They did not realise that two of these (Maastricht and IIEEM) were bogus. The third, the University of Nagasaki, ended HWG’s appointment at about this time; whether this was a coincidence or not is not yet known.
